Join the Quivira Chapter of the Santa Fe Trail Association for a special event honoring National Trails Day and the 250th anniversary of the United States. Gather at Embers Crossing on Turkey Creek, a site on the Santa Fe National Historic Trail, located on Frontier Road, between 17th and 18th Ave., east of McPherson, KS. Time: 12-noon to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 6, 2026. Hot Dogs, Chips, Drinks and Ice Cream will be served until we run out and stories of the Santa Fe Trail will be shared. Bring lawn chairs. The Embers Crossing site is on private property and not normally accessible to the public.

Directions: East of McPherson Kansas on Highway 56 turn south on 17th Avenue to Frontier Avenue. Turn left on Frontier and go approximately ¾ miles. The Embers Crossing and ruts are in the pasture on the left. Park along the road.
