Kansas has trails in every corner—urban and rural, paved and gravel, for biking, hiking, horseback riding, and paddling. The Mapping Committee at Kansas Trails Inc. (KTI) is responsible for creating and maintaining a comprehensive, interactive trail map of the entire state. Our goal is to make it easy for anyone—resident or visitor—to discover, explore, and engage with Kansas trails.
Developing and maintaining a statewide digital map of trails (urban, rural, rail, gravel, hike, bike, horse, water routes)
Collecting accurate trail data, access points, surface types, amenities, and safety details
Enabling user-submitted updates and reviews to keep maps current and community-driven
Creating tools for businesses, outfitters, and trail-friendly destinations to be tagged or promoted along mapped routes
Coordinating with local trail managers, conservancies, and tourism boards for data integrity and cross-promotion
Whether it’s a rail trail near a coffee shop or a gravel loop that ends at a local diner, our maps will help Kansans and visitors find their next favorite route.

Why it matters
Good maps lead to great experiences. When trails are easy to find and navigate, more people use them—and more communities benefit.
