Kansas is home to some of the nation’s most scenic and historic rail trails—corridors that once carried freight and passengers now offer connection, recreation, and opportunity. The Rail Trail Committee at Kansas Trails Inc. (KTI) exists to support, manage, and champion the continued development and stewardship of these vital community assets.
Supporting existing rail trail conservancies across Kansas
Identifying and assisting with new rail-to-trail opportunities
Coordinating best practices for trail design, signage, safety, and long-term maintenance
Promoting public access and community engagement
Securing sustainable funding through grants, donations, partnerships, and legislative advocacy
From expanding long-distance routes like the Flint Hills Trail to helping small towns develop regional connectors, we’re committed to keeping Kansas trails on track—literally and figuratively.
